Seaworthy Ideas and Stuff
Ahoy mates, happy late fall to you all.
By now, all vessels of sail are tucked away in their land cradles. They’re protected with a tarp to keep out the cruelties of the winter weather. We have winterized all the systems and patted the hull in the promise of getting it wet again.
Jeez, I hate this time of year. I’ll just have to keep myself busy with other things. The Holiday’s are fast approaching. That should keep me occupied for a while. Then there is, I hope, vacation planning for late winter, that too will help. Unfortunately, there will be a lot of gaps of time to be filled. I am sure that I will find something.

It’s been a heck of a year. The long spring, the heat when we didn’t expect it and the cool sneaking back upon us like a thief in the night. When it rained, wow, it really came down. I still blame it all on the Martian encounter.
CRCA Cruises were all much fun. Those in attendance really had some great times. You all know I did.
CRCA Racing was superb. The spring and the summer series were as much fun as I remember in a few years. Just being in attendance was all I needed. Of course, winning is a very exciting feeling. The IC30A Nationals were a thrilling way to end the year.
The bottom line is attendance. What fun! Thank you all.

Planning for these events, by them that volunteered their time is always understated. It can be quite fun being one of these volunteers and only sometimes a lot of work. The pay off is the reward of all of us coming together and having a good time. I am sure many of you have experienced that reward. To those that have not, well, don’t be shy. We welcome fresh ideas.

Well, that’s about it for now. See you all at Whirley Ball. I hope that date was good for booking. I’m looking forward to the Commodores Ball.

Casting off all lines. Color me gone.

The 16th annual CRCA Commodore’s Ball will be held at Crank’s Banquet Center in Warren on Saturday, March 27, 2004.
The invitations will be mailed in February. If you have had a change of address recently, please notify the membership chairman, Bill Lundy. We hope to see all CRCA members and a lot of their crew at the 2004 Ball. Mark your calendars for this fun-filled evening in March.
We would like to thank everyone who signed up at the last meeting to get donation prizes for the Commodore’s Ball. Anyone willing to get or give a donation please contact Pat Morell or Sandy Bousum. Again, if we don't receive enough donations for everyone attending the ball, it will be by the luck of the draw.

1. Prior to agreeing to host any National Regatta, a presentation must be made to the membership at a General Membership Meeting.
2. Before the C.R.C.A. can agree to host a National Regatta, a vote must be taken at a General Membership Meeting and a majority of those present must vote affirmatively to host that National Regatta.

Erv Zimmerman has created a club web site. The general membership at the fall meeting voted to support the site. Costs are $36 for the URL crcasail.org (address good for 3 years) and $119.40 for 1 year commercial server space.
Erv has done a great job on the site and, so far, has supported it himself. Check it out.

“And then again, when you sit at the helm of your little ship on a clear night, and gaze at the countless stars overhead, and realize that you are quite alone on a wide, wide sea, it is apt to occur to you that in the general scheme of things you are merely an insignificant speck on the surface of the ocean; and are not nearly so important nor so self-sufficient as you thought you were. Which is an exceedingly wholesome thought, and one that may effect a permanent change in your deportment that will be greatly appreciated by your friends.”
