Jack Creed - Commodore

The Clinton River Catalina Club is sailing along on a broad reach and all is well. Some members aren’t doing as well. Most of the problems have been the auxiliary power plants with one exception those damn boat bicycles. I have heard of 2 exhaust system troubles; one was fixed with a case of beer and some plumbing fittings, the other is still pending. One other engine problem was a oil leak that was thought fixed last winter but turned in to a mess with transmission and engine oil leaking, the engine had to be pulled to replace a dollar part, but all is well now.

You may recall that I had a port light leak that required a plan 2, well I called Catalina Direct and yes they have a reseal Kit for all the ports on the boat, so 2 days later it was at my front door. I kept the whole dock entertained one Saturday while I installed the kit on the leaky port light. The rest of the port lights will have to wait until they are leaking because if it isn’t broke don’t fix it, is my motto.
The club’s first sailing cruise was a marvelous holiday. We were able to sail both ways while avoiding the rain squalls. I am hopeful the rest of the cruises turn out as well at lest where wind and weather are concerned.
The weather has been good for the Thursday night racers. I hope all are having fun on the course.

See you on the water.

He who goes to sea for pleasure would go to Hell for a pastime. - Samuel Johnson

Of course I am lonely at sea, but one suffers less on the ocean in that respect than in the heart of London
