New Business Announced
Editor’s note:

One of our members, Chuck Reed, recently sent an announcement letter to all CRCA members. We have reprinted that letter below. We encourage support of member initiatives when practical. It appears that Chuck is making things quite attractive.

In a recent conversation Chuck said to use the code “CRCA” in the coupon box on check out to receive the discount described in the letter. He also states you should ask if you need something and can’t find it on the site. His e-mail address is shown on the member list.

Greetings to My Fellow Members of the Clinton River Catalina Association,

We have recently joined CRCA and are the owners of Silent Dream out of Markley Marine.

I am writing you today to announce the opening of my new business adventure, CLR Marine. After Linda’s employer relocated us to Michigan, I found the paramedic business here in Michigan did not pay well. After a couple of months of searching for employment, I decided I wanted to do something close to my passion and love of sailing. So, after Linda and I sat down and discussed many ideas, we decided on a web-based business. What would be more fun than selling marine products? After all, I do know a lot about them, I have spent countless hours researching the thousands of dollars I have spent on upgrades.

Our plan was set, and it turned out to be a challenge trying to get this project together and running. Now through the love of my wife, and her putting up with my attitudes every now and then, I am proud to give you www.CLRMarine.com, where you will find all of your Marine Electronics and Supplies at a great price. My motto is “Your Boat is Our Business”. As you will see, I am also proud to announce my relationship with ‘Tufted Topper’ and Sails East-Midwest.

I would like to offer all of my friends of the CRCA family a 6% discount on all marine electronics and supplies over $100.00. To receive this discount place your items in the wish list, then e-mail me and let me know that you are in the wish list. I will move your information into a special account and then email you back with a code to enter on your final checkout. It is that easy.

Would you like a free $25.00 gift certificate? If so, check out our About Us page for more information. In addition, watch our website for the announcement of a contest to win a free one-week stay in St. Maarten during the Heineken Regatta in March of 2006.

I hope that you take a minute to visit my website, www.CLRMarine.com and I would love to hear all of your comments and suggestions.

Thank You

Chuck Reed - “Silent Dream”

Catalina 22 Fleet 130

Mike Bracket, Fleet Captain

Catalina 22 Fleet 130 is hosting the 5th Annual, National Catalina Association's "Great Lakes Cruise - 2005" right here on our own Lake St Clair. We expect participants from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and maybe a few long distance cruisers from even further. I have had inquiries from Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. Our goal is 12 boats participating in the week long cruise.

We will launch on Sunday, July 24th at Metro Beach launch site and host a welcoming picnic. There is a band at the bandstand that evening.

On Monday we will sail to Bouvier Bay marina in the north end of the bay for an overnight and burgers at the Raft. On Tuesday we will sail to the Shore Club at 9 Mile tower for a visit to the Nautical Mile. Wednesday takes the group down the Detroit River to Tri-Centennial State Park next to Chene Park. This is a state park and reservations can be made on the Internet. We hope to get a quick visit to Greektown (and a casino or two for the high rollers) and get back to Chene Park for the Jazz concert that evening featuring Impromp2 and Unwrapped.

Thursday we will sail back upriver to the Shore Club again and sail back to Metro on Friday. We will cap the week of cruising off with a visit to one of the great restaurants in Boat Town (TBD). Most cruisers will haul out on Saturday morning, July 30th and head for home.

I know of a couple boats that might be available locally for "charter" if any of the big boat crowd is looking for a little shallow water cruising. Or just come by Metro on Sunday afternoon to meet the guests.

Lots of fun, no dress codes and good sailing during the middle of the week.
