| At our last meeting attendance was not
sufficient to form a quorum to elect officers as required by the CRCA Constitution.
It was decided that since the nominees are running unoposed, their election would be by
means of silent assent. Therefore, if no dissenting votes are cast within 10 days
from the date of this newsletter, the election of officers, as listed in this newsletter,
will be deemed valid and the officers will be considered to have been elected by unanimous
consent. The proposed slate of officers is as follows: Commodore - Chris Cook If you wish to cast a dissenting vote call me. We missed those of you who were not present at the November 8 meeting. And you missed a very interesting presentation by UK Sails. Mike Bracket served coffee and his wife's famous brownies and little cream puffs. They were big hits Following the meeting Bob DeClercq gave a presentation on the latest sail fabrics with an explanation of how they're madeup - including cuts, tape application, etc. He had us follow him around the loft and ask questions along the way. I stood back and observed a great deal of serious interest. It was frightening watching my husband observe everything with rapt interest. This meeting was to discuss many things. Barb got a very good quote on a new club banner from Vinyl Graphics. It was agreed to order it and we should have it by the Commodore's Ball. The vote passed to raise the club dues as well as raise the cost of the club burgees. Also, some decisions were made concerning the Commodore's Ball. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. LAKE ERIE CRUISE - JULY 1999 |

| At the
General meeting, following the International Regatta, a Lake Erie cruise was suggested.
This is just a suggested plan and any input would be greatly appreciated. The week could
change if people wanted to go earlier or later. SATURDAY JULY 17,1999: leave CR1 @ 09:00 am and sail/motor to Boblo Island. Approx. 534 miles. Arrive about 3:30 PM. Spend Saturday night at Boblo - go on the roller coaster. (Just Kidding) SUNDAY MORNING depart for Put-IN-Bay, planning to arrive just as all of the weekenders have left. Approx. 40 miles. Spend Sunday afternoon, night, Monday, and Monday night in the bay. TUESDAY MORNING depart for Cedar Point, Approx. 20 miles. Now we ride the roller coaster! Spend Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Wednesday night at Cedar Point. THURSDAY MORNING depart for Boblo Island - long trip - early start. Approx. 55 miles, depending on route. Spend Thursday night at Boblo or maybe anchor out for a night. FRIDAY MORNING depart for Windsor - Lakeview Marina - arrive late afternoon. Approx. 20 miles. Spend Friday night in Windsor. At Windsor we could spend an extra night, we could be joined by CRCA weekend cruisers, or we could need a weather day and not have an extra day/night. Once here we can do whatever - spend all our left over money at the casino. This is just a plan, for those of you with an urge to sail/cruise beyond Lake St. Clair, and would prefer to do it with a group (sail I mean) to get out of the little lake and go to the big one. Dates and itinerary are tentative. Please call if you might be interested in going or if you have suggestions / comments / questions. Let's go show the CRCA flag on Lake Erie. - DOUG |

Sail Your Catalina 22 Faster Mark your calendar for February 6, 1999. Joe Waters from Waters Sails will be putting on a seminar on: "How to sail your Catalina 22 faster" . It will be held at the Ramada Inn in Toledo. This will be a full weekend of having fun and learning more about the C-22. You are encouraged to stay at least one night, either Friday or Sat., and bring the entire the family. There is a pool at the hotel and plenty of shopping for the wives, in the area. Additional information will be available later.

Detroit NOOD - Bayview
Yacht Club OK Guys - This is the warning gun. On June 4-6, 1999, Bayview Yacht Club will host the Detroit NOOD, sponsored by Sailing World Magazine at the lower end of beautiful Lake St Clair. Check with Bayview/Sailing World for details. We would like to have a C-22 start as they have in Galveston Texas, the last few years. I'm still waiting for details on the cost and minimum number of boats. Marylyn Boemer from TX said they had an entry fee of $85 last year and a $20 per person social fee for meals and snacks. Minimum of 6 boats. I have attended several NOOD Regattas at the Chicago Yacht Club. Every one was a first class affair with great food, good music, & plenty of "snake oil" to ease the pains from a long day of hard racing. I think this is a real possibility. | The CRCA'a 11th Annual Commodore's Ball will be held once again at the romantic Thomas Edison Inn in beautiful Port Huron, Mi. The date is set for March 13, 1999. Once again there is a special block of rooms set aside at the special rate of $89/night. Rooms will be held until February 13, 1999, so make your reservations early. Check in at 3:00 PM and then come down for a cup of tea by the fire and while away the afternoon watching the river traffic. We are still working on all the details, but it will be very similar to last year's wonderful 10th Anniversary celebration. There will be cocktails and Hor D' oeuvres followed by a sumptuous | buffet dinner. Boat of the Year awards and lots of goodies and door prizes will be awarded. When the lights go down and the music starts, it's time to let it all hang out and dance the night away. Details and all the important pricing will be discussed at the November meeting. Anyone interested in helping with the activities, just give me a call. See you then! - Mike.
