Hello Fellow Sailors,
It's time to kick off the
2011 cruise season with the annual Fun Race on
Saturday, June 4th. As always, we, the race
committee members, make up the scoring as the
day evolves (don't forget . . . getting the most
laughs increases your chances of winning).
New this year, if you sail any leg of the race with
a sail or sails in an unconventional position,
you'll receive extra credit from the judges.
The course will be
counter-clockwise from 1CR, 30 degrees to mark
"B," then 270 degrees to mark
"A," return to 1CR on a course of 150
degrees - all marks to port.
The
single-start sequence will begin at 12 noon at 1CR
with a warning horn followed by:
-
12:05 p.m. - Green flag
up/short horn
-
12:06 p.m. -
"P" flag up (blue flag with white
square) / short horn
-
12:09 p.m. -
"P" flag down/long horn
-
12:10 p.m. - Green flag
down/Gun or long horn - RACE BEGINS
Sail
with one sail, all sails, spinnakers, sail backwards,
whatever . . . just make sure you have FUN!
After
the race at around 3 or 3:30 p.m., there will be a
picnic followed by the CRCA general membership
meeting and race awards. This takes place at
the gazebo at Markley Marine near the river cut.
Since, we're going to be busy out on the race course
and won't have time to cook, we'll be keeping it
simple by having pizza, subs, salads, chips, and
dessert for a low price of $6.00 per person. PLEASE
RESPOND TO jmpost6290@comcast.net AND LET US KNOW:
-
If you're
racing your boat.
-
If you're
attending the picnic AND THE TOTAL NUMBER
OF PEOPLE IN YOUR PARTY so that we can be
sure to have enough food for everyone.
Don't
forget to bring your own beverage
and you may also want to bring a lawn chair.
Hope
you'll be joining us for this fun-filled afternoon --
THINK SUMMER!!
Your
Cruise Leaders,
Doug
& Jean Post
